Ever have one of those days, where you're taking care of business, dotting the I's, crossing the T's and a mega-star simply waltzes in to say hello? Me neither - until recently when none other than Bear Grylls took time out of his busy schedule to swing by Gerber HQ to visit with the staff, take a factory tour and even help build one of his signature products.
Gerber and Bear Grylls began their collaboration in 2010 and while he has made appearances at tradeshows and events in the past, this was his first visit to the factory. While touring the factory he was able to assemble and package one of his own knives built in Portland, the Compact II. The Oregonian, the leading area newspaper, was present for the visit extending the buzz beyond the office into the local community.
